Where are you located?

Our head office, warehouse and production facilities are located at 77 Wellington Street South in Kitchener, Ontario.


What are your hours of operation? 

Our head office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Eastern Time.

 

Do you have a retail outlet and what are their hours of operation. 

Our retail outlet is located at 16 King Street South, Waterloo, Ontario. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30-6:00 pm and Saturday 8:30 - 5:30 pm. The phone number for the store is 519-866-2990.
 

 

Who owns Ontario Seed Company?

 We are a family owned 100% Canadian company.  
 

 

Do you handle Genetically Modified Seed? 

Plants having their genetic material altered using genetic engineering techniques are called Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s).  Ontario Seed Company does not knowingly buy or sell any crops that are GMO. Should your certification board require confirmation of this, a letter is available from us.
 

 

How do I know how many seeds are in a standard packet?     

Although individual seeds of the same species are remarkably similar to each other, seeds from different species vary considerably in size and weight. This makes it impractical to define a "standard" packet across the wide range of species we offer. When it comes to generic row crop vegetable seeds, we fill the packet with enough seeds to sow a typical householder's garden row of 3-3.7 m (10 to 12 feet). However, due to the high cost of many improved varieties, we offer these seeds in packets where we have counted the seed. Do you offer larger packets?

Yes many of our varieties are available in bulk packages.  This information is readily available in our online or paper catalogues.

 

 

How do you package your seed?

Most of our seed is packaged by machine. Some specialty varieties are machine counted and packaged.  For all our vegetable seeds, you will see a line that states the number of ‘seeds per gram’ for that variety.  Most bulk packages are sold by weight. The ‘seed per gram’ measurement is an approximation so please keep in mind that as seeds age they gradually lose moisture and this can affect the package weight.  Some hybrid varieties are sold by the seed count and this information is stated in our paper catalogue and on our online catalogue.
 

Where does your seed come from? 

We purchase our seed from growers located around the globe.
 

 

Why are some seeds treated?

None of our non-commercial seed is treated except for a few selected varieties of sweet corn specifically destined for commercial growers.
 

 

Do you have a line of certified organic seed?  

Absolutely! Aimers Organic Vegetable Seed is certified organic by CSI (Centre for Systems Integration). Copies of our certificate are available upon request for certified organic growers.

 

 

How do I set up an online account?

If this is your first visit to our new website, you won't have an account registered, yet. No problem. When you enter your first order, you are asked by the system if you want to create a new account or a guest account. Simply follow the instructions that apply.


 

Why do I need to log in?

Personal login protects your privacy and facilitates order entry, fulfillment and tracking.

 

 

Can I order by mail?

Yes. Follow the simple instructions on our online catalogue. Our paper catalogue has a detachable mail order form for your convenience.
 

 

Can I order by fax or telephone?

Yes you can. Our order desk answers the phone Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Eastern Time. We have an answering machine for after business hours orders.  Orders can also be faxed to 519-886-0605.
 

 

I had a power interruption before completing my online order. What should I do? 

If order entries were placed into your shopping basket, the system will remember your entires. If the entries were made before updating the basket, these entries will be lost.

 

 

What happens if I forget my password?     

Please use the secure password re-set.
 

 

Can I find OSC seed in stores near me?     

Yes you can. Our seed is available in many hardware stores, garden centres and corner stores. Call us for more details at 519-886-0557.

 

 

Do you have a minimum order?

OSC does not have a minimum order.  However it may be more practical to order more than one item when shipping costs are factored in.  
 

 

Do you have a toll free phone/fax number? 

Not at this time.

 

 

What credit cards do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard and AMEX via the PayPal portal. You don't need a PayPal account. You will not be charged for using this service nor will PayPal collect personal information unrelated to the transaction. Only the information required to complete the credit card transaction passes over the PayPal network.
 

 

Do you use PayPal?     If you want to avoid the PayPal network, please call us at 519-886-0557 to complete a transaction. PayPal is a very secure and efficient on-line payment system. If you have a PayPal account, feel free to use it. Don't have a PayPal account? You don't need a PayPal account. A credit card works great! PayPal accepts your credit card. You will not be charged for using the PayPal service, nor will PayPal collect personal information unrelated to the transaction. Only the information required to complete the credit card transaction passes over the PayPal network. If you mail or telephone your order, please feel free to write a cheque, send a money order or give us your credit card information.

 

 

May I pay for my mail order with a cheque?

Yes, we accept cheques.  We will also accept money orders as payment for product ordered via mail.
 

 

What taxes apply to the different products?   

The applicable taxes are automatically calculated as they are applied per jurisdiction.

 

 

What does OSC do with my personal information? 

Your personal information is used only for order entry, payment and communication between OSC and yourself.  OSC will not share your information with any other entity except in the fulfillment of your order.
 

 

Can I take your seed to other countries? 

Seed importation rules differ depending on the country.  Therefore movement of seed purchased from OSC to any other country is done at your own risk of product seizure at Customs. We do not supply phyto-sanitary certificates.
 

 

How do I know you have received my online order?   
PayPal provides a transaction record at check out and you can always monitor the status of your order on-line when you access your account.

 

 

Where do you ship to? 

Ontario Seed Company ships only to Canadian addresses.
 

 

How fast can I expect my order?  

Orders received by Ontario Seed Company are generally shipped within two days. Canada Post may take 10 business days after that to complete delivery. 
 

 

Where are your shipping charges listed and how are they calculated?   

Shipping charges are calculated by the website when you check-out.
 

 

Do I have an option on how my order is shipped?  

You can request special shipping but extra charges will apply.

 

 

What should I do if something is wrong with my order? 

Ontario Seed asks that you carefully check your order when you receive it. Should anything be missing, damaged or incorrectly filled please contact us by phone or email as soon as possible. We will then work on fixing your problem in a timely fashion.   
 

 

What happens when an item is backordered? 

Backorders are shipped as soon as the product arrives at our facilitites. There are no additional shipping charges when backordered items are shipped.
 

 

I need advice on growing. How can I find it?

Growing information and gardening tips can be found throughout our website. Descriptions for individual varieties often provide growing information as well.
