Culture is very similar to squash and cucumber. For cleaner fruit, vines can be trained to grow on a trellis. When harvesting, cut fruit from the vine when they become firm and no longer give to pressure.
Be careful not to bruise them as this encourages rot. Clean soil from the fruit and store in a warm, well ventilated place to dry for at least 2-3 weeks (occasionally turn the fruit) - larger fruits will take much longer to dry. Gourds that are thoroughly dry will often rattle when shaken. Glaze with a floor wax to help preserve the skin.
