These corn varieties have enjoyed a renaissance over the last few years and are once again in vogue!
If you grow sweet corn, please note: Sweet corn plants require isolation from ornamental corn and silage corn. To be on the safe side, isolate sweet corn types with a surrounding buffer zone 250 feet wide. Another way to accomplish isolation is to sow different corn types at least two weeks apart.
Culture: Sturdy stocks, some of which are coloured, provide visual interest in the garden during the growing season. The cobs come in varying sizes and are filled with wonderfully coloured kernels and intricate designs that are perfect for Thanksgiving decorations. Grow the same as sweet corn. Keep all ornamental Indian corn varieties isolated from sweet corns.
