OSC has tree seeds for both hobby gardeners and professionals alike. If you wish to try growing these seeds please remember they can be slow to germinate and require patience. Tree seed is best planted in the fall outdoors in a coldframe for germination in the following spring. Sowing tree seed indoors in early spring can be quite successful as well if you follow this tip - sow the seed in trays, moisten the growing medium then place the planting tray outdoors in the cold or indoors in a refrigerator for a period of no less than 3 weeks. Even freezing temperatures will not hurt the seed. This cold treatment simulates a natural period of stratification that would have occurred outdoors during the winter - the end result is improved seed germination. After this cold treatment, bring the trays into the warmth and place under grow lights.
