What you need to know to Plant & Grow Pacific Beauty Mixed Calendula

Calendula is a beautiful and easy-to-grow addition to any garden. Though calendula can re-seed itself, it is not invasive.

  • Site Selection: Plant in a spot with well-drained soil that receives plenty of sun. In areas with very hot summers, it can tolerate some afternoon shade.
  • Sowing Outdoors: Direct sow seeds in the garden in mid to late May, planting them 6 mm deep. Protect young seedlings from rabbits. Thin seedlings so they are 20 cm apart.
  • Sowing Indoors: For an earlier start, sow seeds indoors in a soil-less medium in early April.
  • Germination: Keep the temperature at 21°C during the 5-10 day germination period.
  • Upkeep: After germination, grow seedlings on at a lower temperature of 10-13°C before hardening off and transplanting them to their final location.
