Columbine is a cherished perennial known for its uniquely spurred, bell-like flowers that dance atop slender, wiry stems. With fern-like foliage and a wide range of striking, often bi-coloured blooms, these plants bring a refined, woodland elegance to shaded or semi-shaded garden spots.

Growing: Thrives in partial shade and moist, well-draining, humus-rich soil. They are highly adaptable and prefer protection from the intense heat of the afternoon sun.
Sowing (Important Care): For best results, sow seeds in early spring or autumn. Lightly press into the surface, as they require light to germinate. It is critical not to let the seeds dry out—keep them consistently moist throughout the germination period. They benefit from a period of cool stratification if started indoors.
Care: Low maintenance. Once established, they are quite hardy. Deadhead spent blooms to tidy the plant, or leave them to allow the plant to self-sow and naturalize in the garden.
Blooming: Offers a charming, prolific display in late spring and early summer.
