Blanket Flower (Gaillardia) is a tough, sun-loving perennial that lives up to its name, often spreading to create a vibrant “blanket” of warm, sunset-hued blooms. Known for their incredible heat and drought tolerance, these resilient plants feature daisy-like flowers with distinctive, often bi-coloured petals that add a cheerful, rustic look to any garden.

Growing: Thrives in full sun and well-draining, even sandy or rocky soil. They are exceptionally drought-tolerant once established and perform beautifully in hot, dry conditions.
Sowing (Important Care): Surface sow the seeds, as they require light to germinate. It is critical not to let the seeds dry out—maintain consistent, gentle moisture during the germination period. Providing a stable, warm environment (20–22°C) will encourage more reliable results.
Care: Very low maintenance. Deadhead regularly to prolong the flowering season. They do not require rich soil or heavy fertilization, as over-feeding can lead to weak, leggy growth.
Blooming: Offers a steady, long-lasting display of colour from early summer until the first autumn frost.
