What you need to know to Plant & Grow
This robust vegetable is far easier to grow than celery and rewards the patient gardener with a delicious harvest.
Planting: Begin your journey by starting seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks early. Sow seeds on the surface of a soilless growing medium. After germination occurs (10-20 days), grow on in a bright location or under lights at 18°C. Harden off and transplant outdoors in late May. In longer growing season areas, seed can be started directly outdoors from mid-April onwards.
Care: Keep plants evenly watered through the growing season. Harvest anytime the roots reach a diameter of 5-10 cm. For superior flavour and the best winter keeping, wait until the fall to harvest.
