Quick Seed Details

This is a Companion Planting Seed Collection containing four varieties: Beefsteak Tomato, Genovese Basil, Borage, and Dwarf Jewel Nasturtium. It is specially designed to deter pests (Basil/Borage/Nasturtium) and attract pollinators (Borage), resulting in a healthy, high-yielding tomato crop.

Nutritional Information

This collection provides two delicious and highly nutritious harvests:

  • Beefsteak Tomatoes are loaded with Vitamin C and the powerful antioxidant lycopene.

  • Genovese Basil is rich in Vitamin K and essential oils.

  • The system creates stronger, healthier plants, enhancing the nutritional quality of both the fruit and the herbs.

What you need to know to Plant & Grow

This kit is designed for planting around your main tomato crop to provide natural pest and disease control and boost fruit set.

  • Sow Indoors (Tomatoes/Basil): Start tomatoes 6 to 8 weeks and basil 4 to 6 weeks before the last expected frost date.

  • Sow Outdoors (Borage/Nasturtium): Direct sow Borage and Nasturtium after all danger of frost has passed, or start indoors for an earlier bloom.

  • Transplanting: Transplant tomatoes and basil outdoors only when night temperatures are warm and stable (late May to early June).

  • Planting: Plant the Basil, Borage, and Nasturtiums close to your tomato plants.

  • Spacing: Follow spacing requirements for tomatoes (60 cm to 90 cm). Place companion plants 15 cm to 30 cm away from the tomato base.

  • Full Sun and rich, well-drained soil are essential.

Symbiotic Benefits: Basil enhances tomato flavour and helps repel pests like whiteflies and hornworms. Borage attracts pollinators, increasing fruit set, and deters tomato worms. Nasturtiums act as a trap crop for aphids and repel squash bugs, while adding beautiful, edible flowers to the garden.
