What you need to know to Plant & Grow
De-winged for smooth and easy handling, Antigua Gold marigold seeds can be direct sown outdoors in late spring or started indoors for earlier mid-summer blooms.
-
Indoor Starting (Recommended for Early Blooms): Sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before your last spring frost date using a soil-less growing mix. Sow seeds 6 mm deep. Maintain a temperature of 20°C for the 7 to 10 day germination period. Grow on under lights at slightly cooler temperatures before hardening off and transplanting outdoors after frost risks pass.
-
Direct Sowing: Direct sow outdoors in mid to late May once soil has warmed. Sow seeds 6 mm deep and keep soil moist until seedlings emerge in about 7 days.
-
Thinning & Spacing: Thin or space young plants 25 cm apart when they reach 5 to 8 cm in height.
-
Care & Maintenance: Plant in a sunny location with well-draining soil. Deadhead spent blossoms regularly to encourage continuous, non-stop blooming through the entire season.
