What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Brunswick cabbage can be started indoors for an early harvest or sown directly outside for a fall crop.

Planting: Start seed indoors in a sterile growing medium 4-5 weeks before your plant-out time. Seed can also be sown directly outside in mid to late spring. Sow seeds 6-12.5 mm deep and 2.5 cm apart, then transplant to a final spacing of 45 cm in rows 75 cm apart. Germination occurs in 5-10 days.

Care: Cabbages thrive in consistently cool, moist soil. This can be achieved by regular, even watering and by mulching the soil around the plants with shredded leaves or straw. This is a long-keeping winter storage cabbage, and mature heads tolerate hard frost.
