Quick Seed Details

  • Type: Heirloom Vegetable, Root/Greens
  • Features: Quick to mature; sweet, tender, deep red roots; favourite for greens; uniform shape and colour.

What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Beets thrive in sandy loam with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5.

Planting: For a continuous harvest, sow seeds 1.2 cm deep and 2.5 cm apart in two-week intervals, beginning when the soil has warmed to 7°C. Avoid sowing after mid-July. Germination takes 8-10 days.

Care: As each beet ‘seed’ contains 2 to 5 seeds within, it is important to thin the young seedlings to 7–10 cm apart to provide enough room for proper root formation. The thinned plants can be used as a source of tender, edible greens. Remember to fertilize. Over-watering or excessive rainfall may lead to excessive leaf growth and small roots. One packet sows approximately 6 m of row.

Why Early Wonder Beet Seeds belong in Your Garden

The Early Wonder beet is a perfect choice for gardeners who want a quick turnaround. Its rapid maturity allows you to harvest its delicious roots and then re-plant the space with a later-season crop. The roots are exceptionally uniform and tender, while the tops are prized for their flavour as a source of tender greens. This dual-purpose, high-yielding variety is a testament to its long-standing reputation as a trusted staple.
