Quick Seed Details

  • Type: Heirloom Halloween Classic
  • Features: Bright orange, smooth, firm skin; perfect for carving; spooky grinning faces.
  • Note: For a truly monstrous pumpkin, limit fruit to two per plant to concentrate growth.

What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Pumpkins are a hot weather crop, so wait until all danger of frost is past. They need a sunny spot with deep, rich, well-drained, organic soil and a pH of 5.5 to 6.5. Before planting, work in lots of compost to nourish your little monsters.

Unleash the Spooky Spirits: Sow seeds directly outdoors in late May through early June, burying them 2.5 cm deep in hills. Plant 4-6 seeds per hill, with each hill spaced 2.4 m apart to give them room to grow. After germination, thin to 3 plants per hill. You can also start seeds indoors 3 weeks before the plant-out date, but use paper or fibre pots that can be set directly in the soil, as pumpkins do not transplant well.

A Hauntingly Good Harvest: Keep your pumpkin patch well-watered, especially during dry spells. For competition-sized pumpkins, allow only two pumpkins per plant to mature. As the season ends, protect your pumpkins from frost and cold temperatures. Germination occurs in 7-10 days.

Why Jack o’Lantern Pumpkin Seeds belong in Your Garden

Growing your own Jack o’Lantern is more than just gardening—it’s creating a spooky season tradition. There’s nothing quite like the pride of carving a face into a pumpkin you grew yourself. Get ready to illuminate your front porch and light up the night with these perfect Halloween pumpkins!
