What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Beans tolerate a wide range of soil types, but have a distinct dislike for cold, wet soils. Sow seeds only after the soil has warmed to at least 16°C.

Planting: For best growth, sow seeds in a sunny area with light, organic, well-drained soil. Sow seeds 2.5 cm deep and 8 cm apart in rows spaced 45 to 70 cm apart.

Care: To ensure a continuous harvest, make successive sowings every 10 days until mid-July. Keep the plants evenly watered, particularly when they are in flower and when the pods begin to set. Avoid using high-nitrogen fertilizer, as it promotes excessive foliage. To reduce the risk of disease, avoid disturbing the plants when leaves are damp. Germination occurs in approximately 8 days.

Why Dwarf Horticultural Bush Bean Seeds belongs in Your Garden

This bean is a fantastic choice for gardeners seeking a unique and rewarding crop. While its pods are beautiful to look at as they mature with their crimson flecks, the true reward is in their culinary use as a shell bean. The vigorous, high-yielding plants provide a bountiful harvest, and the delicious flavour, reminiscent of lima beans, makes them a wonderful addition to soups, stews, and other cooked dishes. It’s an easy-to-grow heirloom that offers both beauty and a delicious, plentiful crop.
