What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Scotch Bonnet peppers thrive in hot conditions and require a long growing season.

Planting: Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before your last frost date. Sow seeds 6 mm deep in a sterile seed-starting mix. For optimal germination, keep the soil temperature consistently warm, between 24-27°C. Harden off seedlings gradually before transplanting outside to a full sun location after all danger of frost has passed.

Care: Space plants 45-60 cm apart in rows with rows spaced 60-90 cm apart. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Feed with a good quality vegetable fertilizer. For maximum hotness, allow the fruits to fully mature to a deep yellow colour before harvesting.

Perfect for making authentic jerk marinades or a variety of hot sauces, this pepper is a rewarding and flavourful addition to any garden, and its compact size makes it suitable for container growing.
