What you need to know to Plant & Grow Brilliant Mixture Balsam
Balsam is a charming and easy-to-grow plant that adds a unique and beautiful element to your garden.
- Site Selection: This plant enjoys moist soils. In areas with very hot summers, it benefits from a couple of hours of afternoon shade.
- Sowing Outdoors: You can sow seeds directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed.
- Sowing Indoors: For an earlier start, sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks early. Light is required for germination, so do not cover the seeds with soil.
- Germination: Seeds will germinate in 7-14 days at a temperature of 21°C.
- Upkeep: After germination, grow seedlings on under lights at a slightly cooler temperature. Harden them off before transplanting them to a sunny site, spacing plants 30 cm apart.
- Important Note: Avoid planting where Impatiens Downey Mildew (IDM) is endemic.
