What you need to know to Plant & Grow
Wave Petunias require warm soil temperatures and surface lighting for germination before being moved outdoors in late spring.
-
Indoor Sowing (Recommended): Start pelleted seeds indoors in a sterile soil-less mix 6 to 8 weeks before planting out in late spring. Surface sow seeds directly on top of the medium—do not cover, as light is necessary for germination.
-
Pellet Dissolution & Germination: Gently mist sown seeds with water until the protective yellow coating dissolves completely—dissolving the pellet is essential for germination to occur. Apply bottom heat to maintain a soil temperature of 25°C throughout the 14-day germination period (cooler temperatures will extend germination time).
-
Growing On & Transplanting: Once germinated, move seedlings under lights at a cooler temperature of 15°C. Harden off young plants before transplanting outside in late May after frost risks have passed, spacing plants 25 cm apart in full sun.
-
Care & Maintenance: Water consistently and feed regularly with a balanced liquid fertilizer to power rapid growth and continuous bloom production through autumn.
