Marketmore Organic Cucumber Seeds 4040. Heirloom Vegetable.

Approx. 75 seeds/pkt (35 seeds/gram)

Marketmore is a high yielding variety producing perfectly shaped cucumbers that are uniform and dark green with nicely tapered ends. Fruits average 20-22 cm (8-9″) in length and are superb for slicing. Resistant to scab and mosaic. Marketmore is an excellent variety for providing a long picking season – making it a favourite cucumber for market gardeners and home gardeners alike.

How to Grow

Cucumbers grow best in a wind-sheltered site with rich, warm sandy loam. Sow seed when the danger of frost has passed and when the soil has warmed up to at least 18 C (65 F) – cooler soils lead to poor germination. Sow seed 2.0 cm (3/4″) deep with 8 seeds per hill in hills spaced 120-150 cm (4-5′) apart. After germination, thin to 3-4 plants per hill. Harvest cucumbers by cutting them from the vine with a sharp knife. To get a jump on the season, start seed indoors in fibre pots 3 to 5 weeks before planting out. Do not plant out until early June to avoid cool nights and blossom end drop. Cucumbers are shallow rooted and need a consistent, even supply of water. Water is best applied early in the morning – this avoids creating favourable conditions for mildew on the foliage.

SCOUT IPPM

OSC Seeds recommends using SCOUT IPPM to evaluate pests and pollinator populations in your cucurbit crops. Developed in partnership with the University of Guelph and Pollinator Partnership Canada, the SCOUT IPPM app uses scientific data and government guidelines to set action recommendations for growers. Free download is available on App Store and Google Play.
