What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Connecting with the earth and nurturing your garden is a simple, rewarding process.

When to Plant: Sow seeds directly outdoors in a sunny spot in mid-to-late May. For an earlier start, sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last spring frost.

How to Plant: Sow seeds 3 mm deep. If starting indoors, maintain a temperature of 21°C during the 5-10 day germination period, then grow on at a cooler temperature before lovingly hardening off and transplanting outside after all danger of frost has passed.

Care: Give your plants room to breathe by thinning seedlings to 30 cm apart in the garden. For the most tender leaves and best flavour, harvest young shoots when they are 5-15 cm long. Arugula thrives in the gentle embrace of cooler weather as long as the soil is kept consistently moist.
