What you need to know to Plant & Grow

Beans have a distinct dislike for cold, wet soils, so sow seeds only after the soil has warmed to at least 16°C.

Planting: For best growth, sow seeds in a sunny location with light, organic, well-drained soil. Sow seeds 2.5 cm deep and 8 cm apart in rows spaced 45 to 70 cm apart. To ensure a continuous harvest, make successive sowings every 10 days until mid-July.

Care: Keep the soil evenly watered, especially when the plants are in flower and starting to produce pods. Avoid using high-nitrogen fertilizer, as it can promote excessive foliage. When leaves are damp, avoid disturbing the plants to reduce the risk of disease. Germination occurs in approximately 8 days.

The Roma II Bush Bean stands out with its uniquely broad and flattened pods, which provide a different texture and a rich, delicious flavour. Its compact but productive plants make it an ideal choice for gardeners with limited space, while still providing a plentiful crop.
