Description
Tidal Wave Silver Hybrid Petunia Seeds (Hedgiflora) 5995.
Multi-Award Winning Hedgiflora with Massive Flower Power and Versatile Growth Habit.
Tidal Wave Silver Hybrid Petunia (Petunia x hybrida) is a legendary All-America Selections (AAS) and Fleuroselect winner known for its immense vigour and extraordinary versatility. Belonging to the unique “Hedgiflora” class, this high-performance annual features an aggressive, dense habit that billows with hundreds of silver-white blossoms detailed with soft lavender-purple throats and delicate veining. Highly adaptable, its final form is dictated by planting density: spaced closely together (30 cm apart), plants grow into a lush, upright flowering hedge up to 50 to 100 cm tall; when spaced farther apart (60 cm+), they form a sprawling ground cover spreading up to 1 m wide.

What you need to know to Plant & Grow
Tidal Wave Petunias require high light levels and warm soil temperatures during indoor propagation before being planted out into full sun.
-
Indoor Sowing (Recommended): Start pelleted seeds indoors in a sterile soil-less mix 6 to 8 weeks before planting out in late spring. Surface sow seeds directly on top of the medium—do not cover, as light is essential for germination.
-
Pellet Dissolution & Germination: Gently mist sown seeds with water until the protective coating dissolves completely—dissolving the pellet is vital for germination to occur. Apply bottom heat to maintain a soil temperature of 25°C throughout the 14-day germination period (cooler temperatures will extend germination time).
-
Growing On & Transplanting: Once germinated, move seedlings under lights at a cooler temperature of 15°C. Harden off young plants before transplanting outside in late May after frost risks have passed, choosing plant spacing based on desired growth habit (25 cm apart for hedges, 60 cm+ for ground cover).
-
Care & Maintenance: Extremely robust and heat-tolerant. Water consistently and feed heavily with a balanced liquid fertilizer to power its massive growth and non-stop bloom production all season long.
